Are you freekin' kidding me?

Our country has completely gone to the dogs:

"And let me say this, to all of the chattering class . [he's referring to conservatives and republicans], that so much focuses on those little, tiny — yes, porky — amendments: The American people really don't care," Senator Chuck Schumer said on the Senate floor.

Uh... adding all of those "porky amendments" adds up to a TON of money you moron!

It get's better - From the Detroit Free Press:

"The Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act introduced in the U.S. House on Wednesday would allow American citizens unrestricted travel to Cuba for the first time since 1963. The bill by Rep. Bill Delahunt, D-Mass., and eight cosponsors also would lift limits on travel by Cuban exiles living in the United States. The president would not be able to regulate travel to the island unless an armed conflict arose."

HUH???? Since when are we becoming friends with a county with a dictator (in our back yard).

And even better:

"Mr. President, I understand the enormous burden you carry in dealing with the worst economy since the Great Depression,” Goodman writes. “I also understand the need for accountability, but your comments are harmful to the meetings and convention industry as a whole and Las Vegas specifically."

Let's just kick our good services in the mouth and totally run this county into the ground. I am totally discusted.

No boots for mama...

It's cold. No seriously, it's really cold here in MN - unbearably cold. Can you say - not above freezing since Christmas. Needless to say this mama is SICK of wearing her boots to work everyday. They are heavy, clunky, a pain to lace up, and well - not all that attractive. So today, I declared (for myself) a bootless day! I feel liberated to be wearing my tennis shoes outside in the cold - I picked a day with no precipitation, so walking should not be a problem. I also happened to get a prime spot at the park n ride today so I will not be slipping my way through the parking lot tonight after the bus trip home.

So there - no boots for mama today! (the little man, he still has to wear them!)

Need I say more....I am now insulted...

From Wiki (after hearing it myself on the radio yesterday):

On January 20, 2009, Dr. Lowery delivered the benediction at the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America. He opened with lines from "Lift Every Voice and Sing," also known as "The Negro National Anthem," by James Weldon Johnson. He concluded with the following:

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. Let all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen."

Speechless....

Welcome to the USSR of America today!

I pray that this nation and constitution will withstand the next four years of "change" (or should I say the third term of the Clinton administration). I can respect that we have a new president, but I do not have to agree with his policies.

I truly hope that our nation will be better at the end of this year or the end of the next four years. America is far to great a country to fail at this point.

I do not believe that handouts and redistribution of wealth is going to get us there to the "promised" land. As a family that is middle class (probably closer to the middle to lower end of the scale) I shudder to think about the possibility of a government decideing how and where my hard earned money should be spent - the rest of us should all be afraid too. Yes, I would love to have more money that I have, yes I would love to own a bigger house, have a better job, yadda, yadda, yadda, but I do not think that someone who has those things should be forced to give them up so I can have a "piece of the pie."
